Training for a 5K

Well, here I am in Florida freezing my patootie off! But don't worry. If you need some product, I'll get it sent to you.

I just got back from a run/walk on the beach. My niece, Erica Pearson, challenged my family to run a 5K on June 5th in Minneapolis. I accepted the challenge and after paying a months wages for a good pair of running shoes, I started the training last week. If you want to see the training plan, go to www. runningplanet.com.

I started last week walking fast for five minutes and then running for 30 seconds. I thought that was pretty easy. (yay!) So this week, I am walking fast for five minutes and running for one minute. This is a bit harder. I think I do this for two weeks, then I'll see if I am ready to move on to the next level.

I am really hoping that this will help me lose the 20 lbs I gained when I quit smoking four years ago. I'll let you know.

If you want to join me in the running program, let me know. and if you want to join us in Minneapolis on June 5th, that would be awesome.

When I got done with my run tonight, I stretched and then--you won't believe it-- there were six dolphins just offshore. It was so awesome!!! I thought it was too cold for them so was very surprised to see them.

Now--go turn on your tvs and tonight is week two of the Biggest Loser--my favorite show. I wonder who will get sent home tonight?

Mistletoe Market

This Saturday Dec. 5, 2009, is the Mistletoe Market in Chesterton, IN. Most of you know that Edgewater Cottage is a vendor at the European Market open from the end of May until the end of October. The Mistletoe Market is the Christmas Market and is the last market of the season until next May.

Here is a place where you can find the deer and buffalo---soap, I mean. What a wonderful stocking stuffer for your hunter/ourdoorsperson! Scented with Sagebrush and Pinion Leaf it is a truly unique offering.

I offer $10 gift bags that make great gifts for teachers, neighbors, etc. When you order, place the fragrance name in the comment section.

And remember, there is Free Shipping on orders over $50 through Christmas.

Edgewater Cottage in Minnesota

Wednesday I drive to Plymouth, MN for a craft showing at my sister's on Thursday night. I have done this for about 8 years and have so many wonderful customers in the Minneapolis area.

Thursday I drive north 4 1/2 hours to Fosston to attend the Swim Team craft fair at the Fosston Civic Center from 9-3 on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009. This is the only craft fair I do--maybe because my brother-in-law is the coach of the swim team? and my niece, Suzanne Dufault, swims on the team? It's a great day and so much fun to reconnect with people I have known all my life.

Hope to see you there!

Rain, Rain, Go Away

I won't be at the Chesterton European Market this week because once again it's raining and windy. I don't know which one is worse--rain or wind. The rain ruins my products and the wind blows away my tent!

I will be in Fosston, MN Nov. 7th for the Swim Team Crafts Fair.

Remember the Mistletoe Market on Dec. 5th at Bailly Elementary School in Chesterton--800 Fifth Street. 9-3 pm.

If you can't make the market, or live out of town, there is free shipping on orders over $50. So don't delay. Christmas is just a few short weeks away!

Dirt Soap

Ahhh--the woodsy, dirty smell of freshly turned earth. . . who would have thought it would be such a popular scent!

I made Dirt Soap thinking kids would have fun with it. I loved the thought of telling my kids to "go play in the dirt". But to my surprise, the kids didn't like the scent--but their parents did! It is one of my best sellers.

One person emailed me and said that dirt soap will work perfectly for hunters. Deer are not afraid of dirt, so the dirt smell will cover the human scent and--voila--venison for Thanksgiving!

Many people call this Hunter's Soap--but in deference to my vegan friends, I'll just call it Dirt.
