Exotic Soaps

Just what is an exotic soap? They are soaps made from animal tallow.

We have two--deer and buffalo soap. The tallow from these animals make a wonderfully creamy, bubbly, and hard bar of soap. We blend the tallow with coconut oil for bubbles and use olive oil for it's wonderful emollient quality.

Our ancestors used animal tallow to make their soap. They didn't have vegetable oils. They saved the fat when they butchered the animals and render it in a big cast iron kettle over an outdoor fire. I rendered deer fat once in an old roaster on my back porch--all the dogs in the neighborhood love me : )

When you render the fat at a high temperature, you liquify it and cook out any impurities which you remove from the fat. After letting it cool, the fat is a beautiful creamy white and becomes solid.

I scent the soap with sagebrush and pinion leaf. Smells wonderful! Men and women both love it. Remember us when you need a stocking stuffer for a hunter or outdoorsperson.
